These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of the Speech Happens website at speechhappens.com and any services you engage with through the website. 1. About Speech Happens
Speech Happens, LLC is a professional communication coaching practice owned and operated by Elizabeth Alam, M.S., CCC-SLP, ASHA Fellow, based in Arlington, Texas. Speech Happens provides professional development services including accent refinement coaching, communication coaching, corporate team training, and SLP mentorship and training. These services are delivered by Elizabeth Alam in her capacity as a professional communication coach.
Important: Coaching, Not Clinical Therapy
Speech Happens provides professional communication coaching services — not clinical speech-language therapy, not medical advice, and not clinical evaluation or treatment. Engaging in coaching services with Speech Happens does not establish a clinical, therapeutic, or medical professional relationship of any kind. Elizabeth Alam, CCC-SLP, ASHA Fellow, provides services through Speech Happens in her capacity as a communication coach, not as a treating speech-language pathologist.
2. Scope of Services — Coaching, Not Clinical Therapy
The services provided by Speech Happens are professional communication coaching services intended for adults (18+) seeking to improve their professional communication skills, refine their accent, develop leadership communication, or receive professional mentorship.
Speech Happens services are not:
- Clinical speech-language therapy or treatment
- Medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment
- A substitute for evaluation or treatment by a licensed healthcare provider
- Covered by health insurance
If you have a speech, language, voice, or swallowing disorder that requires clinical evaluation or treatment, we encourage you to seek care from a licensed speech-language pathologist or appropriate healthcare provider. Speech Happens can provide referral guidance upon request.
3. Who May Use Our Services
Our website and coaching services are intended for adults aged 18 and older. By using this website or engaging our services, you represent that you are at least 18 years old. We do not knowingly provide services to minors.
4. Booking and Payment
All coaching sessions begin with an Initial Communication Assessment (60 minutes, $250), which is required for all new individual clients. Additional sessions and packages may be purchased following your Assessment. Payment for coaching services is due at the time of service. We accept payment via Zelle and credit card. A 3% processing fee applies to credit card payments. A valid credit card is kept on file securely with our payment processor. Speech Happens does not store your card details. All sessions and packages are valid for one year from the date of purchase. Sessions not used within that period are forfeited. A 10% discount is available for active military personnel, first responders, and teachers with valid identification. This discount is applied at the time of payment upon presentation of qualifying ID.
5. Cancellation and Rescheduling
We understand that schedules change. We ask that clients provide as much notice as possible when cancelling or rescheduling. 24 hours’ notice is required for all cancellations and rescheduling requests. Sessions cancelled or rescheduled with less than 24 hours’ notice are charged at 50% of the session fee. Sessions begin at the scheduled time. If you arrive late, your session will end at the originally scheduled time and the full session fee applies. To cancel or reschedule, please contact admin@speechhappens.com or use the link in your booking confirmation email. For the full Cancellation Policy, visit speechhappens.com/cancellation-policy.
6. Corporate Training and SLP Mentorship Programs
Corporate team training and SLP mentorship programs are custom-scoped and custom-priced. Specific terms, cancellation policies, and payment structures for these programs are set out in the custom program agreement you receive prior to beginning a program. In the event of any conflict between these Terms of Use and a signed custom program agreement, the program agreement governs.
